Richmond, Va. – Livewire, long synonymous with high end technology installations, launched its new training academy today embedded inside the largest home technology integrator in Central Virginia.
“We’ve learned a lot during the pandemic, especially how much training factors into an employee’s chances of success at any company,” said Henry Clifford, Livewire’s CEO. “We’re excited to begin hosting students this summer and hope other technology integrators will consider this a “must-do” first step on any new employee’s journey.” Livewire’s new space will serve as a companion to its already successful online training program, Livewire University. The academy is being made possible in part through a long-term partnership with ProSource, the custom installation channel’s largest buying group with a nationwide group membership of over 600 integrators. Students will come from within Livewire’s own ranks as well as from ProSource members coast to coast.
“We are extremely proud to have partnered with Livewire to create ProSource Academy,” said Dave Workman, CEO of ProSource. “Our industry and our dealers need this vocational training to meet the labor demands of growth in the market. This venture will only grow as we collectively develop the only hands-on training for new field technicians and eventually other positions in their business.”
In addition to vocational training, students will be appraised using a holistic approach yielding a report card back to the employer documenting values fit, personality and other intangibles which are incredibly important in a high touch vertical like custom installation.
“We’ve seen the labor market tightening over the last few months,” said Henry Clifford, Livewire’s CEO. “The academy will enable any ProSource integrator to now consider much less experienced candidates, broadening their selection criteria wider than ever before. This is the closest we can get to the NFL’s “camp” tryout process and we couldn’t be any more excited.”
Livewire began almost 20 years ago serving the residential space and has grown through 5 acquisitions and thousands of customer referrals. The new space will also double as a collaborative new work environment for Livewire’s employees, encouraging creativity and drop-in/run-in meetings which are hard to create over Zoom.
Livewire is the #1 rated technology integrator in Richmond for the last 10 years running by the readers of R HOME magazine and most recently earned the #1 spot in Virginia thanks to the readers of Virginia Living magazine.
