What Is MicroLED?

The most capable display technology available.

Livewire designs and installs custom MicroLED video walls in Richmond, VA, integrating lighting, audio, video, and control into one seamless experience.

MicroLED is the same technology that powers NFL stadium scoreboards and Times Square billboards, now refined for luxury homes. Each pixel is its own self-emitting light source, no backlight, no filters, nothing between you and the image.

The result is contrast, brightness, and color accuracy that no flat panel or projector can match, at any screen size you can imagine.

What is the difference between MicroLED and a large TV or projector?
MicroLED has no fixed size limit, works in any lighting condition including outdoors, supports up to 32 simultaneous sources, and has a 100,000+ hour lifespan with no burn-in risk. A projector is better if you want a dark theater on a budget. A TV is better if you want simplicity in a smaller space. We install all three and will tell you which one actually fits your room.
How much does a MicroLED video wall cost in Richmond?
Total installed project costs typically range from $35,000 for an entry 108" to 120" system to $200,000+ for premium large-format installations. The Instant Budget Estimator on this page gives you a starting ballpark based on your screen size and configuration. For an accurate number, schedule a consultation, we provide full transparent pricing before any commitment.
Can I see a working MicroLED video wall before I decide?
Yes. Livewire operates the only MicroLED showroom in Central Virginia at 4900 West Clay Street, Richmond, VA. The 142" x 66" display is fully live and we can demo digital art, sports, cinema, and daylight performance in a real room. Schedule a showroom visit, it takes about an hour and there is no sales pressure.
Can you work with my existing control system?
Almost always. Livewire integrates with Control4, Savant, Crestron, Elan, RTI, URC, Josh.ai, and most other platforms in the market. We handle the driver installation and coordinate with your existing system integrator if needed. The fastest way to find out what is possible is to tell us what you have.
What is digital art streaming and how does it work?
When you are not watching content, Livewire can connect a digital art streaming platform to your video wall. It displays moving and static art from artists worldwide in perfect resolution. Collections can be curated by mood, palette, or artist and controlled from your phone or existing system. Your wall becomes a living canvas rather than a black rectangle.
What is INVISION and why does it matter?
INVISION is Livewire's exclusive 24/7/365 remote monitoring service. After your system is installed, our local team watches it continuously. Issues are identified and resolved remotely before you notice them. No call center, no national support ticket, people who know your specific system. No other integrator in Central Virginia offers this. It is included in every Livewire installation.
How long does installation take?
Most residential MicroLED installations take 2 to 4 days on-site. Before that, the design and pre-installation phase takes 4 to 8 weeks from signed proposal to install day, depending on equipment lead times and site preparation. We will give you a specific timeline during the design phase.
Do you serve areas outside of Richmond?
Yes. Livewire serves the greater Central Virginia region including Richmond, Midlothian, Short Pump, Glen Allen, Henrico, Chesterfield, and surrounding areas. For larger projects, we travel further. Contact us to discuss your location.
