Hurricane season is just getting started… Are you prepared?

As we all watch Hurricane Erin roll in, many of us have become painfully aware of the ways our home is lacking in power and network support. Storms are unpredictable but your home’s security doesn’t have to be. Now it’s your choice to decide if you’ll be proactive or reactive.

Power and Wi-Fi are typically the first to go during a major storm. Without them, your fridge stops running, your devices go dead, and your security systems go offline.

The key to preventing power outages is making sure your home has:

  • Localized battery backups for key electronics like medical devices, AC, and refrigerators
  • Whole-home or backup generators to keep the essentials running
  • Smart energy systems like Savant, which store power before the storm hits
  • Cellular failover internet so you stay connected even if your main service is down

With the right setup from our electrical division Lightsource, you’ll keep your lights on, your food cold, and your home secure. (All while your neighbors are scrambling for gas cans and extension cords)

The Parent Hack: Home Security Edition

Back-to-school season isn’t just about school supplies and bus schedules. It’s also when your home’s security and network performance get put to the test.

If your home is larger than 2,000 sq. ft., those off-the-shelf network devices from big-box stores like Best Buy simply cannot keep up. But even those devices perform far better with a professional setup and we’re fully equipped to install popular systems like the eero Pro 7.

For reliable, high-speed internet in every corner of your home, you need a professionally designed, fully intuitive network installation.

Your kids and their devices will thank you and so will your peace of mind.

But our work goes beyond network support. We’re offering fully optimized smart security that’s so easy even your child will use it with ease.

Smart security features for busy parents:

  • Keyless entry so you don’t have to hide spare keys under the mat
  • Facial recognition with alerts when unexpected visitors arrive
  • Driver behavior alerts from Alarm.com to flag unsafe driving or unusual activity
  • Perimeter audits to identify security gaps before they become problems

We will help you upgrade your internet, network security, and perimeter protection so you know exactly what is happening at home even when you are not there.

Security starts at the street. Creating a proactive system that’s prepared for anything lowers your chances of unwanted visitors.

We have two choices in this life: we can be proactive or reactive. I don’t like surprises unless it’s a birthday cake, and certainly nobody likes losing their power unexpectedly. To some extent, we can control what happens during major weather events, and a lot of that within Livewire’s sphere has to do with power and the internet. Simple things like having battery backups for your key electronics: computers, AV gear, security cameras, can save you from a lot of headaches, and it’s really not financially prohibitive.
